Near the end of the 1980’s, the Middle East Council of Churches formed a working group to examine Christian Zionism, and issued a focused booklet that was published in both the Arabic and English languages. In this booklet, the research team refuted the starting premises of Christian Zionism that called on biblical and theological principles to justify the Israeli right to Palestinian land, which was considered by Christian Zionists to be an exclusively Jewish state. According to the study, this meant that others — Palestinian Christians and Palestinian Muslims alike — had inferior rights, and that perhaps it would be necessary to expel them from the land of their forefathers, which is what occurred during the systematic Judaizing of the land and the transferring of its people in many forms throughout history.
