Egypt has been deeply divided between sympathizers of the Muslim Brotherhood and their opponents. This has resulted in Islamic thinker ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ ʿAsākir publishing in July 1996 a book titled “Al-Ḥaqāʾiq bī al-Wathāʾiq ʿan al-Ikhwān al-Muslimīn” (The Documented Truths on the Muslim Brotherhood).” The second updated edition of this book appeared in 2015. This was in a period after the fall of Muslim Brotherhood president Muḥammad Mursī and frequent attacks on their ideology and practices. It is obvious that ʿAsākir is not an academic writer. He presents lengthy quotes from various sources and mixes this with his own commentaries. Yet, this book translation project gives an interesting insight in the discussions taking place in Egypt. This book translation started in 2015 with three translation interns. This project turned out to be too large for them. We continued with this project in 2018 and hope that in a later stage other pages of this book can be translated and critically assessed.
