The Azhar Grand Imām and the Minister of Endowments headed to Naj‘ Hammādī for the Friday prayers and to offer their condolences to Bishop Kyrillos and the victims' families. They both stated that Islam is innocent of such crime and stressed the significance of preserving the national unity. In Naj‘ Hammādī a number of humanitarian activists were arrested for organizing a trip to denounce sectarian violence and offer their condolences to the victims' families. The three suspects were referred to an emergency trial that was scheduled on February 13, 2010.
