AWR’s Diana Maher Ghali comments on the number of Christians in Egypt were mentioned in a Daily News Article article.
The threats of Bishop Bula (Paul in the article) are not very wise. That he wants modification of Article II of the Egyptian Constitution is understandable but threats do not fit the representative of 5 percent of population. The method should be in well formulated arguments and making efforts to win other people in favor of your arguments. Confrontation only stirs anger and does not win people for your point of view. Bishop Bulaā’s threats are also counterproductive. It further fans tension and adds to pressure on and fears by Christians in Egypt. That in turn will result in more migration. Is this what the Bishop wants? Sad!
Daily News Egypt made a mistake to provide the title “Bishop to tell Copts to immigrate.” This should be “emigrate” of course. Emigration is leaving the country of one’s residence and immigration is migration seen from the perspective of the receiving country. The mixing between emigration and immigration is a frequently made mistake in media reporting.
