.The one year of Morsi’s rule was one of the worst years for Copts, Pope Tawadros said on one of the television programs. He explained that it was a disappointing year, pointing to the attack on the Cathedral which had not occurred over 19 centuries. The year of Morsi’s rule left 37 Copts killed, 621 injured, 43 sectarian incidents, 12 partial or full attacks on churches, 23 displaced Coptic families in Rafah, Asyut, and Dahshūr who did not return to their homes until now, and 14 cases of insulting Christianity from Yāsir Burhāmī, Salafī leader.
Further, there was the incident where Abū Islām burned the Bible and was convicted and sentenced to prison, but the rule was then suspended. Khayrat al-Shātir, Muslim Brotherhood figure and businessman, had stated previously that 80 percent of protesters at Ithidaya (Itihādīyah) (Presidential Palace) are Copts. Moreover, Dr. ‘Isām al-Haddād, Morsi’s advisor, stated that Copts keep weapons inside churches (Nādīyah Mitāwi’, al-Wafd, Jun. 30, p. 14). Read original text in Arabic.
